Sure they just messed around and weren't anything serious, but he liked Sam. And it was Valentine's Day and under all of that bluster and flirting there was a nice guy. He went and bought her a dozen roses and a box of candy, cliche but his heart was in the right place, and went to her place. He slipped up and knocked at her door and waited. He hoped he wasn't disturbing anything, hoping she wasn't on a Valentine's date.
